7yo Thoroughbred Mare HONEST AD – Sweet, Loving Project with Great Potential with the right person
Lovely 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare looking for a kind, experienced home. She’s a real sweetheart who loves fuss and enjoys her time in the field with friends. Easy to catch — she’ll practically put her own headcollar on — and loads well.
She’s good for the dentist and improving with the farrier, and recently spent a month with a professional trainer where she made great progress in her groundwork and general manners. She’s started hacking out more and is doing well — good with cars and traffic, though she can still be a little spooky or on alert at times.
She can be mare-ish when in season, and when stressed has been known to rear, so she needs a calm, confident, and patient rider to continue her education. She’s a genuinely kind horse who tries hard but thrives with consistency and reassurance.
A physio has suggested she may have previously had kissing spine surgery, but this isn’t currently causing her any issues — the hard (and expensive!) part has been done, and ongoing physio and correct work should only help her continue to improve.
Unfortunately, I just don’t have the time or experience she needs to keep her progressing, so I feel it’s only fair to find her a home where she can get the consistency and attention she deserves.
She would suit someone looking for a rewarding project — she’s already come a long way and will make a fantastic partner for the right person.
