Playful Tinker gelding Robbie - Robbie (Rob Roy EG) is an Irish Tinker gelding born in April 2021 Weight and height were measured in early summer 2025 and were 553.5kg & 148cm He currently lives in a gelding herd in an open/active stable, with automatic hay feeding, which is very good for him. Before moving to his current stable, he was also in a mixed open stable herd where he fitted in without any problems. His rank is medium, he doesn't like to be pushed away, but he doesn't shoo anyone away either, he's just the chilled-out type. We have mainly lunged him in all gaits with or without a saddle, done pole work, ground work and clicker training. He is still growing and has therefore only been broken in carefully, mainly at a walk. However, he does this in the riding arena, in the hall and in the field. In 2025 he was fitted with a D&P Quantum Western saddle with a Western look, bridle with and without bit (mainly ridden without), bareback pad and other equipment is also available and will be given to Robbie.
Farrier comes every 2 months to trim, Robbie is barehoofed, is always outside without a blanket even in winter. His teeth are done, he has been regularly vaccinated and wormed. Unfortunately, as can happen with Tinkers, he has one blemish: his stool. So far he has been on the trailer 3 times on his own, with additional trailer training in between. However, due to his inexperience and youth, loading should be done with sufficient empathy and patience.
Robbie is extremely curious, very smart and eager to learn, but due to his age (Tinkers mature more slowly than most) you have to be careful not to overtax him. He learns new things quickly, such as following the target stick after the 3rd attempt with the clicker. He is really motivated to march and eat grass in between when walking alone or with two horses.
It would be desirable if he could stay in the open stable after the purchase, as he feels very comfortable there. As this is not a distress sale, if you are seriously interested, please allow for an introductory phase so that you can see Robbie more often and get to know him a little before buying.
